(Ages 5-12) Brixology Camp sets the foundation for our next generation of makers! Children learn about different types of engineering and then team up to construct a different engineering-themed project using LEGO® bricks. We’ll learn about aerospace engineering while assembling a space station. We’ll explore mechanical engineering as we build boats and vehicles. That's not all! From carnival rides to drawing machines, mechanical animals to truss bridges, your future engineer will build upon their creativity to solve real-world design challenges, while developing their problem-solving and team-building skills. (5-12 years) Is your child the next Van Gogh or Degas? Or maybe Kandinsky or Chagall is more your young artist's style. Find out in this wonderful camp. We'll look at the work of famous artists that are featured museums around the world! We'll work with a variety of art materials including plaster, paint, clay and more. Your child will even have a chance to paint on a real canvas just like the artist they will be learning about did! Please pack a nut free snack and drink for your child each day. (Grades 2nd - 5th) Rata2ee is a culinary academy for kids, offering hands-on instruction in cooking techniques, including: knife basics, cooking fundamentals, food science and nutrition, kitchen safety, proper food handling, gardening 101 (very basics of gardening), and kids' yoga. This camp teaches a very holistic approach to healthy living. Children will eat 3 meals (making their own breakfast, a 3-course lunch, and dessert), so no packing snacks or lunches for parents! This camp teaches strong character building skills and is meant for kids going into 2nd through 5th grades. Kids should be able to stand for 90 minutes at a time (with 2 small sit-down breaks), and should be okay with playing outside during non-cooking times of camp. Items each child needs to bring to camp: a filled (non-glass) water bottle labeled with first & last name; 2 8-oz Ziploc to-go containers labeled with first & last name; a full size beach towel, and sunscreen. (Grades 3-6) STEM Video Game Enrichment for the 21st Century learner. Each {YEL!} Coding class follows three basic components:•Teach It!…Students learn different video game and storytelling design techniques (movement blocks, control blocks, basic animation, adding scores, etc.) •Code It!… Students use Scratch® to code their own story and video games. •Explore It!…Students can write their own story and video game code, experiment with it and test new options. (Grades 2-5) Launch and watch your very own rocket speed 300 feet into the air! Then it is yours to take home! Students will make and take home multiple rockets of varying difficulty throughout this session. We will use these rockets and airplanes to investigate basic aeronautical concepts including: propulsion, thrust, lift, drag and more. We will also hypothesize about travel in outer space, how to get a United States astronaut to Mars and life on Mars. Do you have the right stuff? Students will design mythical dragons and unicorns that embark on a legendary quest to overcome obstacles and challenges, until they face an epic challenge to save the world! (Grades 4-7) Build a picture frame, a race car, catapult and trophy display base. Builders will learn to measure, cut, sand, paint and then take home each project they build. This Youth Enrichment League (YEL) class educates students on the use of basic tools (hammers, nails, screwdriver, measuring tape, t-square and more). SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY. No power tools will be used in class.
